WLPS Covid-19 Update: Remote Learning Day October 15

Dear WLPS Families,
Our schools have made it through the first month of the year without a positive COVID-19 case. However, the region is experiencing an increase in cases per million and WLPS is preparing by implementing a district-wide remote learning day on Thursday, October 15.
Students in grades K-6 can expect to have a blend of synchronous (logging in for direct instruction from their teacher) and asynchronous (independent work) instruction for the day. While students in grades 7-12 will be working on asynchronous instruction only.
Teachers will be hosting virtual parent teacher conferences Wednesday, October 14 and Thursday, October 15. Classroom teachers will be sending out information on scheduling your conference time at the elementary level. At the secondary level, watch for a communication next week from Principal Jill Henry.
Our district calendar for Friday, October 16 and Monday, October 19, which are “no student” days, will remain in effect.
For more updates from WLES, you can find this week’s WLES Weekly Update HERE.

Last week, Gov. Whitmer issued an Executive Order which will now require all students to wear masks throughout the school day. Beginning Monday, October 5 all students will be expected to comply with the order. WLPS will be working with our students in grades K through 4 on the new expectations.
