At the Early Childhood Center of Whitmore Lake Public Schools, we believe a huge component of a successful education is being informed! On this page, you'll find a variety of resources for you to stay current on happenings at ECC, educational tools for parents, and all the required forms and applications for each of our programs.
Program and Enrollment Information
Here you will find information about our individual programs available at the WLPS Early Childhood Center including Head Start & the Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP), Kids Club, and Tuition-Based Enrichment Preschool. You may also complete the enrollment or application process for your child online by clicking the links below.
Head Start & GSRP
Grant Programs
The Early Childhood Center offers two free grant programs for students that qualify - Head Start and the Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP). If you are interested in either of our free programs, please complete the pre-application below and WLPS will contact you with information on how to schedule an intake appointment to complete the application process.

Tuition-Based Enrichment Preschool

Before/After Care
Kids Club is a Before/After Care program available to WLES and ECC students. Please click the buttons below to view the Kids Club brochure, the Kids Club Schedule Request form, and to register online for both new and returning Kids Club students.
EduCare is a Before/After Care program available at our Main Street Campus for GLTW students in Preschool through 6th Grade. Please click the buttons below to view the EduCare brochure, find more information on the EduCare program on our Go Like The Wind Montessori website, and to register for EduCare.

A Message from Our Director, Sue Wanamaker
Dear Families and Community Members,
Welcome to the nationally accredited Whitmore Lake Public Schools Early Childhood Center (ECC)! We serve over 100 children ages 0-5 years in free and tuition-based full and half day programs and playgroups as well as wrap-around childcare! Here at the ECC, we offer all of our programs and services under one roof in order to meet the developmental needs of each child. We also offer the following to our families:
- Classrooms staffed with certified teachers and assistant teachers.
- Parent resources, educational workshops, and informational materials.
- Seamless transitions to kindergarten.
- Well equipped classrooms with a variety of materials and supplies.
- Early childhood speech pathologist and occupational and physical therapists located on site for individual and/or group therapy.
- Developmentally appropriate activities are provided with individualized instruction using The Creative Curriculum tool.
- Ongoing child assessments using the Ages and Stages screening tool and Teaching Strategies Gold online assessment tool.
- Implementation district-wide initiatives of Classroom Instruction That Works and Rachel's Challenge.
- Classrooms with IPads, Smartboards, and computers.
- Fenced-in outdoor playground with a variety of play equipment to develop children's gross motor skills.
- Indoor gym and gross motor room with climbing structures, bikes, balls, playhouses and a variety of materials to spin, crawl and jump.
- Early childhood library where children check out books weekly to take home.
- Sensory room for developing children's sensory needs.
- Child-sized restrooms for successful toileting.
- Themed night events focusing on developing educational readiness skills.
- Special programs and fun days scheduled throughout the year.
