At Whitmore Lake Public Schools, we’ve made it even easier to have fun, feel great, and stay fit! The Whitmore Lake Community Recreation Department has officially launched the new WL Wellness Program. Parents, family, and friends are more than welcome to join WLPS faculty members and students for fun and affordable fitness classes in each building 2x per week! Instructors Maria, Amanda, and Linda will host a variety of class formats great for all fitness levels.

Having taught Zumba in the Whitmore Lake community for almost four years, Maria is excited to share her love for having fun, getting moving, and acting crazy! Her class motto is “there are no mistakes in Zumba, just accidental solos!” Her class is friendly for all fitness levels.
Amanda is a certified group fitness and yoga instructor with close to 5 years of teaching experience. She currently teaches Zumba, Zumba Toning, Yoga, Cardio Drumming, Strength Training, Kettlebell, and Hula Hoop Fitness. Amanda definitely doesn’t take herself too seriously and encourages her students to make fitness fun!
Linda is a certified Yoga Alliance RYT-200 Instructor, having graduated in 2013 from Teacher Training at Spirit Rising Yoga Studio in Brighton, Michigan. She has been teaching yoga ever since, including Gentle Yoga, Chair Yoga, Yoga for Kids, and private sessions. Prior to that, she taught 2nd grade at Lakes Elementary in the Hartland Consolidated Schools for 36 years. Her passion for teaching continues to grow with every opportunity she has to pass along the benefits of this amazing practice.

Yoga Flow is a vinyasa style class that incorporates a slower paced flow to help calm and quiet the mind while bringing awareness to the body. This class will help increase flexibility and strength and leave you feeling relaxed and meditative. Please bring a yoga mat, towel, and water to class.
Fat Burn Yoga is a vigorous, fitness-based approach to vinyasa-style yoga. This class connects strength and athleticism, including lots of vinyasas and Pilates-based core movements. You will increase your strength and flexibility while also calming and connecting the body and mind. Please bring a yoga mat, towel, and water to class.
Strength Training is a Tabata style total body fitness class that incorporates weight training with bursts of cardio to really ramp up the calorie burn. Light dumbbells, as well as body weight exercises, will be utilized in this class to help you burn fat and build lean muscle. Please bring a yoga mat, a set of dumbbells (3-8lbs), and water to class.
ZUMBA® is a fusion of Latin and International music/dance themes that create a dynamic, exciting, and based on the principle that a workout should be “FUN AND EASY TO DO.” The routines feature aerobic/fitness interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body.
Hula Hoop Fitness is a fun, revitalizing, total-body workout that initially focuses on the basic hooping moves and progresses into a full-fledged fitness class! This class starts with hooping on the torso and performing very basic moves on and off the body and then progresses into a full-body workout that focuses on seamlessly flowing all the moves together. This is an excellent core workout that is sure to make you sweat! No previous hooping experience required!
