About Us: A Message From Our Principal
Welcome to Whitmore Lake High School.
WLHS moved from its old facility on Main Street to its current site on Whitmore Lake Road in 2006. Enrollment has been stable since that move with over 400 students in a variety of secondary programs including an Early College Alliance with Eastern Michigan University (ECA@EMU), and the Washtenaw IB program (WIHI).
Celebrating our successes over the years is a part of the WLHS tradition. Below are some points of pride:
• The Class of 2011 was joined by the Class of 1961 celebrating the 50th anniversary of the first graduation from WLHS.
• WLHS is one of only two schools in the state of Michigan to be awarded a Silver LEED Certification by the US Green Building Council. http://www.zananetwork.com/videolibrary/brightgreen/
• Over 90% of our graduates are accepted to college each year.
• Our top 5 college/university placement: University of Michigan, Michigan State University, Central Michigan University, Eastern Michigan University, and WCC.
• Over 60% of our students are active in extra curricular activities.
• Our coaches and athletes compete for conference championships each year and have won 8 state championships since 1995.
• Our dedicated faculty is 100% Highly Qualified.
• We are NCA Outcomes Accredited and we continue to improve our school by focusing on professional learning communities, freshman transition, student volunteerism, and enhancing our rigorous and relevant curriculum.
