Lauren Mayleben
Swim Instructor
Lauren has lived in the Whitmore Lake Area the majority of her life. She is an alumni of Whitmore Lake High School, 2007 and has been working for WLPS Community Recreation for three and half years. She is currently attending Eastern Michigan University to pursue a degree in Secondary Education for the subjects of Biology, Chemistry, and Spanish.
In her free time, she is very involved with the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life on EMU’s campus and she is currently a part of the Great Lakes Division Collegiate Training Team. Lauren also loves spending time with my friends and family.
Lauren began swimming at the age of two and started competing at four. She was an active participant for the Ypsilanti Otters Swim Club for nine years. Over the last few years at WLPS, she has been lifeguarding and teaching swim lessons. For Lauren, the reward of teaching children a life skill is really something special. She believes it is essential for children to learn to swim, and there is no way around it. The kids in her classes know that she is their biggest cheerleader and will do her very best to meet the needs of each one them. Lauren enjoys working for WLPS Community Recreation and loves working with all levels of our swim lessons!
