Curriculum:
The WLPS curriculum was revised and aligned with the State of Michigan Curriculum Standards and Benchmarks at the end of the 2002-03 school year.
The Board of Education also adopted a curriculum review cycle. The math curriculum was reviewed and updated in 2003-04.
The process used by district staff, in partnership with the Washtenaw ISD, included aligning with the state standards and addressing issues of resources and assessments necessary to meet the curriculum objectives.
During the 2004-05 school year we will be focusing on updating our English and Language Arts curriculum.
Social Studies will be the focus for 2005-06 and Science will be reviewed in 2006-07.
Additionally, we are the process of creating Parent Curriculum Guides that will assist parents in understanding what their child is expected to know and be able to do at each level.
These guides will be available at the beginning of the 2004-05 school year.
